Our Bikes:

All of our bikes are Marin Fairfax 2 hybrid-style bikes that are perfect for the varied conditions you will experience on the Empire State Trail, local trails and the streets of New York City.  Click here for bike specs.

These are the same bicycles that we provide to our clients on all of our tours, and they are outfitted and accessorized for long-distance rides.  All bikes come with:

• Helmets and locks
• Rear racks that accommodate panniers (you can bring your own or rent from us)
• Seat post bags (containing a multi-tool, spare tube, patch kit, tire levers, CO2 inflator, etc.)
• Puncture resistant tires
• Option to switch out pedals and seats if you bring your own

 We make sure you are prepared with the best bike for the trail conditions you will encounter!

NOTE: NO E-BIKES  We do not have e-bikes. E-bikes are prohibited on most local trails in New York so we do not rent them.

Our Location and Hours:

Gotham Bicycle Tours is a primarily a bike tour company that does not operate out of a traditional storefront. However, we are able to meet clients who want to rent bikes at the location where we store our bikes, which is 439 E 238th St, Bronx, NY 10470.  This is an 8-minute walk from the Woodlawn Metro-North Station (Bronx/Yonkers border, trains every 30 minutes from Grand Central).  You can also drive here and find on-street parking relatively easily.

We have flexibility to meet you based on your schedule – we do not maintain set hours.  If you would like to book a bike, you can book a time through this link, but we also suggest you send us an email or call as well to set up the time with us directly.  Our rental fleet is small and you will be working with either Lukas or Laura (the owners) directly when you come get the bike. So we will work with you directly about the pick up and return of the bike, based on the ride that you want to do. 

Our bike storage location is a 2 mile ride to the South County Trailway (Empire State Trail) or a 2 block ride to the Bronx River Greenway.  So you can easily do a ride for a few hours from our location, or use it as a jumping off point for a multi-day tour. NOTE FOR SAME DAY OR NEXT DAY RENTALS: Our online booking system prevents you from booking less than 48 hours in advance to avoid situations with same or next day rentals being booked at times we are not available. However, in most cases we can accommodate you.  Please call Lukas at (917) 748-1119 for same day or next day rentals and he will make arrangements with you over the phone.

Bike Rental Options:

3 hours – $50 – enough time to explore Bronx River Greenway and connecting trails in NYC or the South County Trailway (Empire State Trail) in southern Westchester County

All day (up to 24 hours) -$85 – Do a bigger ride – we can give you options where to go. 

Weekly – $250 – Do an epic, multi-day ride on the Empire State Trail. Our bikes are perfect for this, and have racks for you to carry your stuff. We also rent panniers and offer bag storage for multi-day tours. 

One-way – Why retrace your steps?  Ride as far as you want and we’ll pick you up at the end of the day. (Fees vary based on distance) 

Delivery – Can’t come to Woodlawn Heights? Need a bike to ride somewhere else? We can deliver the bike to you. (Fees vary based on distance)

Delivery and one-way fees:

We are currently the only bike rental company that delivers bikes in both NYC and the Hudson Valley. This is a huge convenience for our clients, but we need to pay staff for the time involved with making the delivery.  The delivery (or pick up) pricing is as follows:

• Local delivery – Bronx or Lower Westchester County – $75
• Manhattan – $250
• Queens or Brooklyn – $300
• Northern Westchester or Putnam Counties – $200
• Dutchess or Ulster Counties (Poughkeepsie, Kingston, Rhinebeck) – $400
• Capital Region (Albany, Hudson, Saratoga Springs) – $600
• Other locations (Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, Long Island, etc.) – call to inquire

The above numbers are all based on travel time.  Manhattan, Queens and Brooklyn are all very expensive because the TRAFFIC IS SO BAD. However, we will try to make it worth your while.  For example, if you are ending your tour at Battery Park in Manhattan, we can come pick up the bikes from you and drive you to your hotel as part of the arrangement for no extra fee.  Then you can see for yourself how bad the traffic is.
