Hudson Valley Tour des Vins Day Ride
September 12, 2020 10:30 a.m. – Gardiner, NY
Rain date September 19
Tour price $75
The Hudson Valley is the perfect destination for a one-day getaway on a bike. This ride has it all: beautiful scenery mixed with delicious locally produced wine, spirits and food. This bike ride packs a lot of highlights into a great 30-mile itinerary that is perfect for all abilities and includes off-road bike paths and quiet back roads.
This Hudson Valley Tour des Vins ride has been put together in response to the current pandemic conditions that have forced us to cancel our Tour des Vins de New Jersey which we had scheduled for this date. We were not able to operate that ride due to our winery partners being closed for tastings.
Because most wineries in New York State have been open this summer, we have put together a 30-mile itinerary using a route we have used on some of our previous Hudson Valley Bike Tours that begins and ends in Gardiner, NY. You can get here by train or car (see below).
Because of the pandemic conditions and the rules we must follow to operate safely, this tour will be operated as a self-guided ride where everyone rides at their own pace and we provide rest stops and vehicle support in case any riders need assistance. All riders are given access to GPS navigation to ride the route, which will allow for 5 food and beverage related stops. You can stop and any – or all – of these stops for tastings or lunch. Tastings and lunch are not included in the price of the ride, due to complications with Covid-19 related restrictions. However, our support vehicle will be passing through all of these stops to allow you access to any bags you choose to store, including the storage of any wine or spirits that you buy.
Stops include:
- Mile 11.5 – Rail Trail Cafe in Rosendale – Farm to table food served in 100% outdoor setting next to a bike path
- Mile 18.5 – Coppersea Distilling – Whisky distillery offering outdoor tastings and whisky slushies
- Mile 26 – Robibero Family Vineyards – Outdoor wine tastings
- Mile 28 – Tuthilltown Spirits – Distillery specializing in a variety of spirits including whisky, gin and vodka
- MIle 30 – Whitecliff Vineyard – Outdoor wine tastings or wine by the glass.
After reaching Whitecliff Vineyard, it is a 2.5 mile ride back (uphill) to the parking lot where the ride started. We will be offering shuttle service back to this lot for people who request it. We will also be operating shuttle service back to the train for people coming from the city by train.
Train information. We have a limited number of spots available for people to take the train to this ride from New York City. Train riders should board the 7:45 train to Poughkeepie from Grand Central Terminal. We will meet this train with a shuttle when it arrives at 9:48 and drive you and your bike to the starting point. At the end of the day, we will shuttle you back to the train directly from the winery for the 6:50 train back to the city. That train arrives at Grand Central at 8:53. There are also good dinner options available in Pougkeepsie for outdoor dining near the station or takeout for eating on the train.
Our standard cancellation policy applies to this tour. If bad weather cancels the tour, all tickets will be transferred to the rain date. If you cannot make the rain date, you will get a full refund.

Thank you both for an amazing trip! The ride was beautiful, and at just the right intensity (challenging, yet doable). Your organization and planning were spectacular…it couldn’t have been a better experience!
